In short

What is a Windows VPS and what does the price include?

A Windows VPS is a KVM virtual machine managed over Remote Desktop, with full Administrator rights. At LowPings it starts at €4.99 per month for 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe SSD and a dedicated IPv4. The Windows licence is not included in the price and is bought separately, from Microsoft or from us.

Configurations

Three configurations, and memory is the deciding factor

Windows uses memory before you start a single application. That is why, on Windows, RAM decides the plan more often than the CPU does. Prices are for the machine — the Windows licence is added separately.

What you need to know

How it differs from a Linux VPS

Same hardware, different operating system — and a few practical consequences worth spelling out before you order.

The Windows licence is not in the price

The prices below are for the machine: CPU, memory, disk, network and IP. The Windows licence comes on top — either you already have one, or we source it for you. Tell us which edition you need before ordering, so you know the total cost before you pay, not after.

Memory matters more than on Linux

Windows itself uses more memory than a minimal Linux distribution. Of the 4 GB on the Start plan, the system takes a share before you launch any application. For business applications, the Medium plan with 8 GB is the realistic starting point.

Access over Remote Desktop

You connect with Remote Desktop from Windows, or with any RDP client on Mac and Linux. There is also a console in the panel, so you can get onto the machine even if you have broken the network configuration and RDP no longer responds.

Reinstall whenever you want

You reinstall the operating system from the panel, on your own, with no ticket and without waiting for our working hours.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask about Windows VPS

If your question is not answered here, message us on WhatsApp — we reply the same day.

Is the Windows licence included in the price?

No. The price covers the machine — CPU, memory, NVMe disk, 1 Gbps network and a dedicated IPv4. The Windows licence comes separately: you can bring your own, or ask us for a quote for the edition you need. We say this plainly because it is the only real cost difference compared with a Linux VPS, and we would rather you knew before paying.

Which plan do I need?

It depends mostly on memory, because Windows uses part of it before you start any application. For individual use over RDP and simple applications, Start with 4 GB. For business applications, ERP or SQL Server, Medium with 8 GB and 4 vCPU is the realistic starting point. Premium, with 16 GB and 6 vCPU, for applications with constant traffic.

How do I connect to the server?

Over Remote Desktop, once Windows is installed — the client is built into Windows and there are versions for Mac and Linux. You receive the IP address, username and password after activation. There is also a console in the panel, which works even if you have broken the network configuration and RDP no longer responds.

Can I install any application?

Yes, you have full Administrator access. Install whatever software you need, exactly as on your own computer. Licensing for the applications you install remains your responsibility.

Is it the same hardware as the Linux VPS?

Yes: the same machines, the same KVM virtualisation, the same 1 Gbps network and the same NVMe disks. What differs is the operating system, how you connect — RDP instead of SSH — and the fact that the Windows licence is paid for separately.

What if I break the system?

You reinstall from the panel, on your own, at any time. Backing up the applications and data on the server remains your responsibility, as with any VPS — you have full control, and the care that comes with it.

I need more than 16 GB RAM. What are my options?

Move to a semi-dedicated server: the same KVM virtualisation, but with guaranteed resources, unlimited IOPS and configurations from 16 up to 64 GB RAM. You will find them on the semi-dedicated servers page.

Tell us which application you run and we will tell you which configuration you need

We will also tell you what the Windows licence costs for the edition you need — better to clear that up before you order than after.
